World Amateur Radio Day

Each year on 18 April, radio amateurs celebrate World Amateur Radio Day. On that day in 1925 the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) was founded.

World Hemophilia Day was observed on 17 April 2013

With '50 Years of Advancing Treatment for All' as the theme, The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) and the global community observed the World Hemophilia Day on 17th April, 2013.

National Safe Motherhood Day Observed

National Safe Motherhood day is being observed across the country today to create awareness on proper healthcare and maternity facilities to pregnant and lactating women. Indian government has written to the states to strengthen implementation of Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojna (IGMSY) maternity benefit scheme. The review of the progress of the IGMSY will be conducted from the 15th to 25th of this month.

World Autism awareness day

World Autism Awareness Day is observed across the world on 2 April. The United Nations General Assembly had declared 2 April as the World Autism Awareness Day unanimously. World Autism Awareness Day was first observed in 2008. The day is observed to highlight the needs of autistic children as well as adults so that they get a better quality of life.

Earth hour observed on 23rd March

The Earth Hour 2013 was observed from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 23, all over the world including India. Earth Hour is a global event organised by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), an international non-governmental organisation working on conservation, research and restoration of the environment.

World Water Day

World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. This year's theme is "Water Cooperation"

3rd National Voters’ Day Celebrated Across the Country

The Election Commission of India celebrated the 3rd National Voters’ Day across the country today. The theme for the 3rd NVD is ‘Inclusion’.

Celebertion of National Girl Child Day

The Government of India in 2008 declared January 24 of every year to be celebrated as the ‘National Girl Child Day’ with the objective of raising consciousness of the society towards the girl child so that she can be valued and respected. Ministry of Women and Child Development has been taking a multi pronged approach to address and reverse the trend of declining child sex ratio in the country. The objective of all these initiatives is to work towards ensuring that girls are born, loved and nurtured and grow up to become empowered citizens of this country with equal rights and opportunities.
