Yes guitarist Peter Banks dies aged 65

Peter Banks, a founding member of the British progressive rock band Yes and its original guitarist, has died at his home in London. He was 65. Widely considered a pioneer of progressive rock guitar, his loss was mourned in a statement by fellow band members from Yes, which was formed in 1968.

Noted environmentalist Veer Bhadra Mishra passes away

Noted environmentalist and TIME Magazine's Hero of the Planet' in 1999 for his work related to cleaning of Ganga Prof Veer Bhadra Mishra passed away at Sir Sundarlal Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. He was 75. Mishra was recognized on the United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP) Global 500 Roll of Honour' in 1992. He was also one of the expert members of the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA).

Painter Ganesh Pyne dies in Kolkata

Pyne was born in Kolkata in 1937 and in his long career of five decades his paintings were exhibited round the world - Paris, London, Washington and Germany. He was known for his small tempera paintings, rich in imagery and symbols and acknowledged the influence of great painters like Abanindranath Tagore, Hals Rembrandt and Paul Klee. Last year Pyne was conferred the lifetime achievement award by Indian Chamber of Commerce.
